The MFL sensor designed by TÜBİTAK RUTE has been developed for the detection of surface defects in ferromagnetic railway track components and wheel sets. With the scalable MFL sensor module, wheel and rail components with different diameters and geometries can be inspected non-destructively. 

The developed MFL sensor technology makes it possible to precisely measure and detect wheel and rail surface defects in advance so that maintenance activities can be planned more effectively and train navigation safety can be increased.
