With the "Electric Mainline Locomotive Contract Signing Ceremony" held in Eskişehir with the participation of Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, President of TÜBİTAK, Dr. Tolgahan KAYA, Director of TÜBİTAK RUTE, and many names from the public/private sector, the serial production of Turkey's new generation electric mainline locomotive ESKİŞEHİR5000 is starting.
Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, who made the opening speech of the program, said that they came together for the supply of 95 electric mainline locomotives between TÜRASAŞ and TCDD Taşımacılık, the leading organizations of the railway sector, and stated that they will start the production of 95 "Eskişehir 5000 Electric Mainline Locomotives" at TÜRASAŞ Eskişehir Regional Directorate.

Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, referring to the projects realized in the field of railways in 22 years under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, said: "Now, we are opening the doors of a new era with the first electric mainline locomotive E5000 with 5 thousand kilowatt-hour power, which we produced with domestic and national facilities in 2023. We have developed a new generation electric mainline locomotive with a power of 5 megawatts, suitable for the needs of TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ, with a power of 5 megawatts, 'TSI', ie European Union Railways Interoperability Certificate, capable of freight and passenger transportation, with a speed of 140 kilometers per hour, TÜRASAŞ brand."
Uraloğlu pointed out that the Eskişehir 5000 project, which is also considered as the project of the firsts and the best in this field, has many prominent features.
President of TUBITAK "CER Converter System and Train Control and Management System will continue to be developed by TÜBİTAK RUTE"
In his speech at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, President of TÜBİTAK, said: "I wish that the signatures signed today for Eskişehir 5000 will be auspicious. In this journey, which started with the R&D process and TÜBİTAK KAMAG support, we are in a great excitement, where TÜBİTAK Rail Transportation Technologies Institute (RUTE) is the project coordinator, our Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is the requirement authority, and we are in the transition to mass production of our Eskişehir 5000 train, which we put on the rails with the participation of our President last year, and the production of 95 trains in the short term."
Stating that both the CER converter system and the train control and management system of the 95-unit order will continue to be developed by TÜBİTAK RUTE, Mandal said: "We will continue to fulfill our responsibility in the best way possible. Our country will take both passenger and freight transportation to the next level with its own main line locomotive. This self-confidence will give us greater excitement and responsibility."
