TÜBİTAK Rail Transportation Technologies Institute (RUTE) took part in IDEF 2025 International Defence Industry Fair, one of Turkey's most important organizations in the field of defence industry, with the technologies developed with national capabilities.

TÜBİTAK RUTE exhibited the Indigenous Engine technology, which was developed in line with Turkey's goal of reducing its dependence on foreign engine technologies, and whose rights belong to Turkey. This product, which was realized entirely with domestic engineering capabilities from the sketch stage to the final design, was the center of attention of industry representatives and military officials throughout the exhibition.

During IDEF 2025, TÜBİTAK RUTE stand was visited by Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Industry and Technology, Yaşar Güler, Minister of National Defense, Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdülkadir Uraloğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, as well as executives of public institutions and organizations, private sector representatives and many domestic and foreign business partners. The Institute's know-how and engineering power in defense and transportation technologies were shared with the participants through product presentations and face-to-face meetings.

Indigenous V8 Engine to Play an Important Role in Turkey's Defense Power

The Indigenous Engine Project developed by TÜBİTAK RUTE is an important milestone in line with Turkey's goal of reducing its dependence on foreign engine technologies. This engine family, developed entirely with domestic engineering capability, is designed to meet different power and application needs with V8, V12 and V16 configurations.

The Özgün Engine, which attracted attention with its V8 model exhibited at the IDEF 2025 International Defense Industry Fair, can reach 2400 horsepower with its V16 version and stands out as one of the most ambitious solutions in its class.

With a 3.75-liter unit volume, the engine offers high efficiency with a fuel consumption of 200 g/kWh and meets the requirements of the era in terms of both performance and emissions thanks to its modern common rail fuel injection system and turbocharger-supported air supply structure.

Thanks to its modular structure, the Özgün Engine can be adapted to different needs, and together with its generator sets, it has the flexibility to be used on challenging platforms such as locomotives, surface ships and even submarines. The engine, which is also being developed in a marine version, makes a strong contribution to Turkey's vision of producing indigenous and national solutions in strategic areas.
