TÜBİTAK Institute of Rail Transportation Technologies (RUTE) participated in Eurasia Rail 2025 - International Railway, Light Rail Systems and Logistics Exhibition held at Istanbul Expo Centre (IFM) between 18-20 June and shared its R&D studies and technology vision in rail transportation technologies with the leading representatives of the sector from around the world.
During the fair, TÜBİTAK RUTE stand attracted a great deal of attention and the technological solutions exhibited were impressive. While the project engineers present at the Institute's stand throughout the fair informed the participants and answered their questions, TÜBİTAK RUTE was the centre of attention of guests from all fields with its unique R&D studies in the field of railway.
High Technology, Strong R&D and Domestic Production
During the fair, sector representatives, academicians, public institutions, domestic and international railway companies and companies operating in the field of rail transport came together to exchange information and evaluate possible collaborations. TÜBİTAK RUTE attracted attention with the innovative solutions it developed at the fair where T.R. State Railways (TCDD) and TÜRASAŞ also took part.
Our Railways are Equipped with Domestic and National Systems
At the TÜBİTAK RUTE stand, the latest technology products and projects developed by the institute were exhibited. Visitors were provided with detailed information about the technical features and areas of use of these systems, while both domestic and foreign sector representatives showed great interest in RUTE's engineering capability and technological vision.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure at TÜBİTAK RUTE Stand
On the last day of Eurasia Rail 2025, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, visited the TÜBİTAK RUTE stand. Minister Uraloğlu, who met with the officials of the Institute, was informed about domestic production moves in rail systems, advanced technology applications and strategic projects for the sector.
Uraloğlu received detailed information from RUTE Director Dr. Tolgahan Kaya about the latest developments in the work of TÜBİTAK RUTE, wished the staff success and took a souvenir photo.
Future Vision in Rail Transport: Artificial Intelligence Discussed
On the last day of Eurasia Rail 2025, a panel titled ‘The Future of Rail Systems with Artificial Intelligence’ was organised under the leadership of TÜBİTAK RUTE. The panel, which focused on the current and future role of artificial intelligence technologies in the field of rail transport, was followed with interest by the participants.
The panel was moderated by Dr Tolgahan Kaya, Director of TÜBİTAK RUTE. In his opening speech, RUTE Director emphasised that artificial intelligence is not only a technology preference in rail systems, but also a key component of a wide transformation process ranging from safety to efficiency, and shared the vision and goals of the Institute in this field.
Speaking at the panel, Dr Murat Güler, Deputy Director of TÜBİTAK RUTE, emphasised the strategic importance of artificial intelligence applications in rail transport, and explained the ongoing studies on decision support systems, predictive maintenance and data analytics. Güler stated that they are focusing on domestic solutions that will increase Türkiye's independence in this field.
Serhat Türk, Signalling Systems Department Manager, gave information on artificial intelligence supported optimisation models in signalling infrastructures. Solutions developed for safer and more efficient management of traffic flow were shared with the participants.
In his speech, Ali Alperen Şen, Electric Vehicle Technologies Department Manager, touched upon the applicability of artificial intelligence to electric rail system vehicles. Alperen Şen also touched upon the R&D studies carried out on topics such as energy efficiency, driving optimisation and autonomous mobility, and talked about how these technologies will contribute to the railway sector in the near future.
The panel, which attracted great interest of the participants, ended with a question and answer session.
