Another first in Istanbul's railway transportation has been achieved, and as part of the efforts coordinated by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Arnavutköy - Istanbul Airport section of the Gayrettepe - Istanbul Airport - Halkalı metro line has been put into service.
Signaling System from TÜBİTAK RUTE
The signaling system of the line was developed by TÜBİTAK RUTE, Türkiye's first and only Research and Development center specializing in railway technology. Indigenous signaling systems stand out as crucial projects eliminating the dependency on foreign countries for signaling and refurbishment of our metro lines.
Developed by TÜBİTAK RUTE Technologies, the Indigenous Signaling - CBTC WSATC system ensures the safe operation of fully autonomous driverless trains. Thanks to this system, which only a few countries in the world operate, the need for foreign expertise in signaling and refurbishment of our metro lines is eliminated, thus preventing high-cost expenditures. With the localization capabilities of TÜBİTAK RUTE, it is aimed to provide Türkiye with an added value of 100 million euros in the coming years through the use of this system on main railway lines and metro lines.
We extend our gratitude to all the personnel of TÜBİTAK RUTE who contributed significantly to the realization of this crucial part of the project and wish it to be beneficial for our country.
